What is a clinical research study?
A clinical research study is a medical study that helps to answer important questions about a study medication, device, or vaccine. All vaccines must be tested in clinical research studies before they can be approved for use. Without people taking part in these studies, we would have no new vaccines.
Research has shown that certain diseases, treatments, and medications may impact people differently based on their age, sex, gender, and genetic background, including race and ethnicity. It is important to conduct research studies with diverse populations to ensure that vaccines and medications are generally safe and effective (or the benefits outweigh the risks).
Are you interested in taking part?
You may be able to take part if you:
- are 60 years of age or older
- can do your usual daily activities even with some interference from any health conditions
- are able to use smartphones, tablets, and/or computers.
If you are interested, additional eligibility criteria will be assessed by the study doctor or staff.
Qualified participants may receive the study vaccine and some study-related medical care at no cost. The study will not pay for other medical care or current medication(s) needed to support your daily health care routine.
Before you decide whether to take part in the study, we will provide you with all of the information you need, and you will have a chance to ask questions. You will be given plenty of time to decide if you want to take part in the Study. By joining the study, you may learn more about respiratory infections.
